About Me

My photo
I am a teddy bear artist by profession. I also play rhythm guitar with a local bluegrass band on weekends that I am not off to teddy bear shows. I have a very funny papillon named PJ. He is 10 years old and he keeps me mobile by making me take him walking every day. I love antiquing and use many of my finds for my teddy bears. I am just starting to do mixed media artwork and collage. You can find some of my things my website:www.marthasbears.com

Show in Indy - June 3

Hi again, I will be at the Bright Star show in Indianapolis, Indiana  on June 3.
Stop by if you have time.  Watch for some new bear pics for this show.

sorry I have not been posting

Hi everyone, so sorry to have been so quite.  My little dog Toby became very ill about a week and a half ago.  After thousands of dollars in testing and meds to find out what was wrong, he crossed the rainbow bridge on Thursday afternoon.  He came home from the emergency vet, went into a seizure and died in my arms.  Poor baby.
We were looking at his back for the issue, but it was an incurable brain issue.

So, when I can stop crying and get myself focused, I have things for the suppliers list and more for this blog.

a central suppliers list

Hey everyone,  I am trying to put together a comprehensive suppliers list for things like:
mohair, eyes, joints, hardware, costuming fabric, ribbon, stuffing, accessories and anything else that we can think of.  I invite doll artists and teddy bear artists to submit contact info for any suppliers that they use.  If you as an artist submit a supplier, also send me a pic of your work using that item.  I will include that in the list with your contact info as well.

If you have anything to share, send me an email
mdrbears@aol.com
I have a pdf form that  I will send you - it will make it easier for me to compile everything.
Thanks

The creative process

This is where Woodlandia started

didn't like this fabric with this fur

Nope, not right

This was the first fabric - and I decided to keep it

I chose not to use the chair for this piece -- It spawned a different bear
I promised to show some pics of the creative process.  This is where the new piece "Woodlandia" that is going to the PA show started
